The LSU Tigers
may have beaten the
UNC Tarheels 30-24,
but the two rivals’
tailgaters were
neck-and-neck.
In the first-ever Gridiron Rivals Tailgate Tour stop, fans from the rival teams
competed in football-themed games. LSU Tigers’ tailgaters took home
the coveted prize in the Tyson Chicken Wing eating contest, while the
UNC Tarheels won the EZ Grill Cook-off Before Kickoff challenge.
Madison, a young LSU fan and “future LSU Cheerleader” took home the
ultimate honor and was crowned Tailgater of the Game. Her winning fan

“We couldn’t have asked for better tailgaters at our inaugural event,”
Jason Fosnaught, tour manager for the Gridiron Tailgate Tour, said. “The
fans were enthusiastic and loved the free food samples and games.”
Event sponsors Kingsford Charcoal, KC Masterpiece, GLAD Force Flex, EZ Grill,
Tyson Chicken and Tailgater Monthly provided games, entertainment and food.
Among the fan favorites were the KC Masterpiece MasterPass, the GLAD
Force Flex Sack Attack and the Kingsford Smoking Arm; which pitted the
rival fans against each other in football-themed games. The points lead-
ers of these games were then eligible to compete in one of the tour’s most
exciting events, the EZ Grill Cook-Off Before Kickoff, a head-to-head
cooking challenge where fans from rival schools competed using the
tour’s products to create the best tailgating dish. Winners received a spe-
cial prize pack loaded with goodies from the tour’s partners.
“It was great seeing the competition between the tailgaters during the
games, they kept the crowds wanting more. It was an exciting day for all
in attendance; tour staff members and fans alike,” Fosnaught said.
The only tour of its kind, the Gridiron Rivals Tailgate Tour pits fans from
both schools against each other in unique head-to-head games and
crowns one fan the Tailgater of the Game. Fans can upload their favorite
tailgating pictures to www.gridirontour.com where everyone can vote for
their favorite tailgater. The ultimate honor comes at the end of the season:
the Tailgater of the Year Award. The winner, chosen by fans through online voting, will receive four tickets to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, Ga.
