The foosball table that started it all...
A group of ten tailgaters launched Detroit Tailgate.
com in 2005 as a place to post pictures and
coordinate upcoming tailgate parties. Since then, it’s
grown into the premier online resource for tailgating
information in Detroit, and has fostered a sense of
unity among Detroit’s Eastern Market tailgaters.
Now, several large tailgate parties cooperate to
consistently throw some of the greatest tailgate
parties Detroit has ever seen.
What started as a few people drinking beer around
a foosball table has exploded into a major event at
each Lions home game including a stage with live
bands, a full-service bar, cook-offs, contests and
corporate sponsors. If you’re wondering why Ford
Field has some empty seats on game day, it’s because
the fans are having a better time in the parking lot
than the stadium! Bronco Billy, a Denver fan, says
it all on the Testimonials page of DetroitTailgate.
com, “I’ve been to Cincy, Indy, St. Louis, Cleveland,
Denver, Arizona, Buffalo, Chicago, and now Detroit,
and I must say that you guys really know how to
tailgate. This was the best tailgate I’ve ever seen... I
can honestly say I’m not sorry I came to Detroit even
though we lost 44-7.”
With the Lions playing so poorly season after
season, the tailgate parties are all the fans have to
look forward to, and the Detroit Tailgate community
has mastered the art of tailgating. So, if you’re
thinking about a road trip to Detroit to watch your
team play, let the folks at DetroitTailgate.com show
you how to tame the mean streets of the Motor
City, and have a great time doing it.
